Bogota Capital City


Bogota is the capital city of colombia, its population is about 8 millions people most of them from al over the country . It is the biggest city in colombia, it is located in the middle of the country it is located 2600 meters over the level of the sea and its average temperature is 14 degres. The city is sorrounded by great green mountains that give to the city an exuberant beauty.

Bogota Its foundation



Founded on august 6th 1538 by Gonzalo Jimenez de Quezada, was named initialy Santa fe (holly faith). Mr Jimenez was in the search of "El dorado" a legendary lost city made of gold, unfortunately for him the city was only a myth. But, in the middle of his searching he found a rich savannah crossed by rivers and inhabited by The Mwuiskas, the first nation of the central part of Colombia. The Mwiskas called their home Bacata and the spanish people changed it to Bogota, so the first name of the city was, "Santa fe de Bogota.''
